Agustin is a molecular biologist, inventor and biotechnology entrepreneur trained in virology and immunology, whose work spans infectious disease, neurodegeneration and longevity science. He is the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Klothea Bio and Rational Vaccines, and Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of ADvantage Therapeutics.

At Klothea Bio, Agustin is pioneering a new generation of therapeutics centered on Klotho, a protein increasingly studied for its role in healthy aging and age-related disease. He is a co-inventor of two of Klothea’s core Klotho technologies: its Klotho mRNA therapeutic platform and Klothosomes.

The Klotho mRNA platform is designed to enable the body to transiently produce therapeutic Klotho protein through mRNA-based delivery, with Klothea’s lead Alpha-Klotho mRNA candidate, AKL003, advancing through clinical development. Klothosomes, the secretome of a proprietary Klotho over-expressing cell line, is a complementary Klotho biologic developed to expand the potential ways Klotho can be translated into therapeutic applications.

Agustin’s work extends into neurodegenerative disease. Through ADvantage Therapeutics, he has been involved in the development of novel therapeutic approaches for Alzheimer’s disease. The company’s clinical programs explore approaches to neurodegeneration that extend beyond conventional amyloid-targeting strategies.

Agustin co-founded Rational Vaccines with the late Dr. William Halford to advance therapeutic and prophylactic vaccines for herpes simplex virus. Across these ventures, his work has remained focused on translating emerging science into therapeutic platforms addressing significant areas of unmet medical need.

Today, Agustin brings together scientific discovery, invention, entrepreneurship and company building with a central objective: translating emerging biological discoveries into therapies with the potential to extend human healthspan and change how age-related disease is prevented and treated.
